Presenting your ideas
I continued working on the project by preparing the proposal presentation, as the submission date is the 30th of October, and we also have to present it on the same day. I began a draft of my presentation in class as we had time to work on it and later present it to our colleagues. I worked together with my colleague Vivi, and we shared advice regarding our presentation. In the presentation, we needed to create a timeline to remain organised and illustrate our milestones throughout the process. Then we received feedback from our lecturer, Diego, who helped us define the idea behind the presentation. I adhered to the structure of the guideline proposal that Diego provided for this class, and I incorporated suggestions from Vivi that I believed would be particularly useful, such as including reference tracks that inspired me or that I wish to remix. I also consulted Matt, my tutor, with whom I had a video call to discuss the project. In particular, as we delved deeper and spent more time on the structure of the presentation than we did in class, many beneficial ideas that I had overlooked emerged. For the concept, each song could be from different genres, and I could research techniques specifically for each genre. For my personal motivation, which I had viewed rather simplistically, Matt suggested I adopt a more academic approach and add value to my motivation. For my project plan, he suggested some really great ideas that I would have never considered, such as the SMART goals: ‘SMART goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. This framework helps individuals set clear and actionable objectives, increasing the likelihood of success (A How to Guide, 2016-2017).’ I had to research them because I didn’t know the meaning; I believe it will help me greatly with setting my goals for this project. Ultimately, I revised my final presentation and waited to assist with my colleagues’ presentations during the following week. This will be extremely beneficial for drawing inspiration from their slideshow and format, as well as for exploring presentation methods.
