Initial Presentations
In week four, my classmates delivered several presentations, as the presentation dates were set for that week and the next, when I would have given mine. I listened closely to all of them to gain inspiration and, of course, to learn about their project. After class, I went directly to review my presentation and make adjustments based on what I had learned. I also had a meeting with my tutor, Matt, who helped me and offered advice, such as adding a slide after the title as a Table of Contents, which I also noticed in class. He suggested that I use fewer words and write something more like a summary of the arguments I wished to discuss, since it was a presentation; therefore, I should have spoken more rather than read everything. He provided me with advice on my project plan, including the specification of the music genres I intended to remix and suggesting the inclusion of more examples as reference tracks. I needed to incorporate more research examples, and I also had to include details about my research in my timeline. Matt suggested a brilliant idea regarding emailing professional producers, especially those of my reference tracks, to inquire about their techniques for remixing strategies. For my conclusion, I should have included the research I mentioned and the names of my reference tracks. Matt has been really crucial for my presentation as he provided suggestions on matters that I really didn’t know about. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him again in this weekly journal. Ultimately, I prepared for my presentation by pretending to present it before the class without reading anything. I also timed myself to ensure I did not exceed the ten-minute limit. I truly struggle with presenting in front of others, but after three years in the same class, it is reassuring to know that I am with people I am familiar with. Regrettably, not everyone shares the same view, but I suppose that’s just how it is.
