From Demo to Final Piece
During this week we had a particular class, in fact it was about definition of the musical genres and hybrid genres songs, like mixed genres. There were a lot of examples of tracks that we listened in class. Some of them were bizarre like a bit unfamiliar to me, while others were interesting, in particular the change of genres was well-done in a sense that it crossfaded during the song changing from a genre to another.
Apart from this i kept working on the first remix following a useful Youtube video that i found about remixing a track. In fact I added synth chords during the chorus of the song, I equalised the vocal track cutting the low end entirely and boosting a bit the highs as this is a common practice; i also put a noise gate on the vocals to add a bit of definition and finally i modified the BPM of the track in general. Although i’m mostly working on the vocal as i think i won’t use the other parts of the track. I also did some research using ChatGPT as it is really useful as a tool in fact it gave me some useful advices to experiment on my remix.
I also had to correct the tempo of the vocals adjusting it to the beat of the track as sometimes it was out of tempo. I did so using the flex mode on the vocal stem and moving the transient point where i could see a drop on the waveform, or just by listening to the track. Diego helped me with this as i struggled to do it, but in the end now it is synchronised to the beat.
I also reviewed a lot of things on the track that i did not personally like so i canceled them and asked ChatGPT some advices as i normally do when i do not know what to do and i’m out of inspiration. I asked a simple question: How to do an EDM remix on a DAW; and it gave me a lot of great tips to enhance what i already had and for something to add what i didn’t.
