L’italiano Toto Cutugno

The original track was in the key of F Major and had a tempo of 122 BPM, which is fast but could be even faster. That’s why I decided to remix it into a Progressive House track at 128 BPM. In addition, since i transposed down the istrumental and vocals the key would become E Major.

First, as with every remix, I needed the song’s stems. As usual, I got them using https://huggingface.co/spaces/abidlabs/music-separation, which is recommended as the best quality stem separator. After that, I need to determine the tempo of the genre I want to remix the song into, which, for this one, is Progressive House at 128 BPM. It sounded good to transpose down the original music and vocals by one semitone.

I composed the chords, taking inspiration from the original ones, but only those in the chorus. After that, I composed the melody, following the root notes of the chords. The same applies to the Sub and Bass, which are identical but with an EQ cut respectively at high and low frequencies.

I got the original chords from https://chordify.net/, which has all the necessary song chords.

I used Serum 2 as my synth instrument and some presets on Splice, a platform where I acquire most of my samples, including FX and drums.

For my mixing, I used a cool logic plugin called Step FX, which is similar to a randomiser, then EQ, and filter, to mix my chords. With automation on the frequencies, cut. I also used a compressor with sidechaining my bassline with the kick. Additionally, reverb, delay, distortion, and a limiter are also used.

The mixing of the melody is like the chords, with more automation.

For the Bassline, I have an EQ to define the Sub from the Bass as previously stated.

As for my drums, I have two claps, two Hi-hats, a percussion and a shaker.

The only important mixing for them is the kick in mono, along with some drums that have been given stereo delay and EQ.

I used a lot of FXS, including a down lifter and its reversed version, a short FX, two risers, two impacts, and a drum fill buildup, all of which were used towards the drop and throughout the buildup.

These are primarily used in the buildup/drop section of the track. I received some assistance with mastering, as it’s not my strongest skill, using the Logic Pro assist tool and iZotope Ozone 11 Advanced while still fine-tuning some parameters.
