Azzurro by Adriano Celentano
I decided to do this remix in the genre of Deep House, so I just increased the BPM to 123 from the previous of 119. The key didn’t change as I chose not to transpose the original stems, as I didn’t like how they sounded. I didn’t mix the vocals too much either, I like their clear sound in the remix, so I just added an EQ, delay, compressor to sidechain with the kick and a usual Pitch Correction FX. I didn’t touch the instrumental apart from the automation in the intro and outro of the track. I obtained three variations of chords from Splice, all from the same sample pack, and simply mixed them using sidechain compression and EQ.
For this track, I decided to include a vocal sample, which I hadn’t used in any of the other tracks. Although the track features various instrumental solos, I thought it was perfect for those moments, serving as the main melody. I had two different versions of it, allowing me to add a bit of variation throughout the track. I got four bass samples with a sub that I duplicated. I mixed them with EQ and sidechain compression. My kick is, as usual, in the four-on-the-floor pattern, in mono as the central element of the track, and sent to bus 1. I used a particular FX like a synth arp falling, and in general, in this track, compared to the others, I used fewer FXs. Using my other instruments more as a transitional effect between the stages of the remix.
I only used the other two FXs, one synth in reverse as a riser, and a bass synth loop, which I used primarily for buildups. The drums are from a sample which alternates during the drop. For my mastering, I did some tweaking on the Ozone Izotope 11, and that’s it for this remix.
I could have done many more things with this remix, such as incorporating the instrumental elements of the songs, which have great potential for implementation in EDM music. I will certainly develop this remix further in the future.
